Kuo: Apple to start large-scale manufacturing of AirPods with cameras by 2026
As per another report from investigator Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is focusing on starting large-scale manufacturing of new "AirPods with camera modules" by 2026. This report comes after Bloomberg additionally noticed Apple's arrangements for creating AirPods with cameras back in February.
As per Kuo, these new AirPods will highlight an infrared camera like what's utilized as a feature of the Face ID module on iPhone and iPad. Apple's objective is allegedly for the camera-furnished AirPods to incorporate with Vision Ace and future Apple Vision headsets:
Also, the report says that the IR camera on AirPods could recognize natural picture changes, "possibly empowering in-air signal control to improve human-gadget connection."
Kuo takes note of that Foxconn is the "new item presentation (NPI) provider for the IR camera that will be utilized with AirPods. Foxconn apparently has a yearly limit plan of 18-20 million units, or around 10 million sets of AirPods.
